Inspect your car with the Olight H1 Nova flashlight

We’re very impressed with this little torch. During the British winter the country roads are so dark that you can't see anything when you get out of the car. What do you do when you have a problem with your car or need to top up your washer fluid? Well, you need a handy flashlight that will magnetically stick to any metal surface and illuminate the space under the bonnet. It's only 6 cm tall and has a ton of power.

Is the Olight H1 Nova very bright?

H1 Nova flashlight is 500 lumens bright in the highest setting. It can illuminate a large space upto 66 metres ahead. The light beam is evenly distributed from the centre to the edges and offers great coverage for walking and even running.

The torch has a very nice concave multi-faceted lens which consists of lots of tiny convex lenses making the light much softer compared to other lensed flashlights. It also looks really cool.

There are two flavours of the torch offering a cool white and warm white light. This review is for the warm white version.

Who is the Olight H1 Nova multi-purpose miniature LED flashlight for?

The H1 Nova is a great choice for everyone, it can be handy in an emergency or when unloading the groceries from your boot. Truckers will find it great for inspections and as a utility light around the cabin.

The light’s accessories, the removable metal belt clip and the head strap make it a perfect companion for the dark outings. Its super light and doesn’t move when you go about your business or even run.

The soft to the touch flexible head strap has adjustable restrictors which allow strap length adjustments ranging from 13cm to 20cm in diameter.

The supplied clip is also really handy and strong. It would work well clipped to a jeans pocket or a belt. The spring is metal and quite strong, securely keeping the light in place.

The clip has two mounting locations making it easy to mount the light up side down.

The torch has a 90°head which can be pointed in different directions thanks to the circular mounting of the clip and the headstrap. When using the head strap you can adjust the angle of the beam to point under your feet or up ahead.

Does H1 Nova flashlight have a magnetic mount?

The flashlight has a magnetic battery cap which sticks to ferrous metals like the bonnet of your car or other convenient surfaces.

When you unscrew the magnetic battery cap the battery sticks to it and comes out of the flashlight making battery changes a breeze.

H1 Nova light modes and features

Being a multi-purpose flashlight, the H1 Nova has 1 super low power mode that goes for days, its 20 lumens bright and is great for getting around in the dark. Hold the button for a while from the off state to turn this on. The flashlight has three main brightness settings which can be toggled by holding the power button once the flashlight is on. The double press activates burst mode which is extremely bright and illuminates a whole field of space. Triple press activates the morse blinking of SOS.

Does Olight H1 Nova come with a case?

Yes it does, the case is a really nice hard shell that’s got a dual zip and an elasticated strap. The inside of the case has a removable spacer and a small cargo net. There is extra space for spare batteries and other small items you may want to keep from rattling around your glove compartment.

Is the Olight Nova H1 rechargeable?

The light ships with a disposable CR123A battery which is not rechargeable. You can get CR123A for as low as £1 each on Amazon

Because of the small size, the light has an unusual battery size. We recommend that you get a couple of 16340 rechargeable batteries on Amazon
