How long does an MOT test typically take and what happens after a vehicle is tested?

The MOT (Motor Vehicle Test) is a vital assessment that evaluates a vehicle's roadworthiness and environmental impact. It typically takes around 45 minutes to an hour for the entire process, which includes visual inspections, comprehensive checks, and emissions testing. The duration can vary depending on factors such as the type of vehicle and the number of defects found during the test.

After the MOT test, if your vehicle passes, you will receive a certificate valid for 10 working days from the test date. This certificate is essential proof that your car meets the legal standards for road use in the UK. However, it's important to note that passing an MOT does not guarantee that your vehicle will run perfectly. It simply confirms that it meets the minimum requirements. If you plan to keep your vehicle or sell it, regular maintenance and repairs are crucial to ensure its longevity and reliability.
