Do I need to empty my vehicle's trunk before taking it to an MOT test station?

While it is advisable not to have any potentially hazardous items in your vehicle during an MOT test, including those stored in the trunk, it is not strictly necessary to completely empty your boot. The recommendation focuses on removing items that could pose a risk during the testing process. This typically includes spare tyres, tools, and other equipment that might interfere with the inspection or be considered a hazard.

However, it's important to ensure that the vehicle is in a safe and operational condition for the test. You should also remove any personal belongings or items that are not essential for the vehicle's function. This helps to streamline the testing process and ensures that the mechanic can assess all critical components of the vehicle effectively.
